The Noise They Couldn't Escape

When KD and Susan reached out, they had big plans for their outdoor space in Sandpoint — a quiet retreat where they could unwind, enjoy nature, safely reach the water, and entertain friends and family every weekend.

But there was one problem no design could work around: constant train noise rumbling through their backyard. They hoped landscaping might help.

Could a fence do it? Trees?

After talking through the options, we had to be honest — no amount of reasonable landscaping was going to bring them the peace they were looking for.

A Question That Changed Everything

So we asked them something they hadn’t considered: What if the perfect yard isn’t here?

That question shifted everything. A year later, KD and Susan found a new home across Lake Pend Oreille — nestled in the trees, far from the noise. And before they even moved in, we got to work.

The Peace They Were Looking For

The finished space was virtually everything they had imagined — curving patios, lush greenery, open lawn for games, and plenty of room to breathe.

Nearly every inch of the outdoor space was touched. But the best part might not be what you see. It’s what you hear: water features bubbling, a fire pit crackling, and KD’s music drifting quietly through a speaker system tucked seamlessly throughout the yard.

Now, instead of bracing against the noise, KD and Susan sit back, take a deep breath, and soak in their own slice of Idaho — happy to share every bit of it with the people they love.
